Helena CLINCH
Born and raised in West Penwith, Helena's work is shaped by a life long connection to the extraordinary landscape which is her home.
She paints the places most familiar - the coves, headlands and moorland paths that evoke the deepest memories of her life.
Working primarily in acrylic and mixed media, the paintings are expressive, bold and energetic.
Her work is responsive and instinctive, while often being impulsive and deeply emotional.
Alongside landscape, she enjoys Still Life and finding beauty and character in familiar objects. An effort to capture a feeling rather than an exact representation through colour and mark making.
Her abstract work develops on colours and shapes derived from the coarse and wild landscapes of Cornwall.
As a contemporary Cornish Artist, She is inspired by the rich artistic heritage of West Penwith whilst developing a visual language that is distinctly her own.
Her work invites viewers to experience the energy of colour and the emotional resonance of place, encouraging them to pause, reflect and discover something of their own within each painting.
